Identity is a key concept in understanding and interpreting text. We not only need to understand the significance of the identities of characters within the text, but that of the author, to critically examine the perspective presenting the narrative, and our own, to explore the text's relationship to ourselves and potential biases in our interpretation. This unit strives to explore identity in ourselves and each other to build class community and critically explore the text.
