Week One
This week introduces the concept of critical lenses and offers a structured entry into critical theory, with an exploration and application of feminist thought. This begins with an excerpt from Virginia Woolf's A Room of One's Own, from which we derive an interpretive schema for feminist interpretation. This provides an analytical emphasis for our work with Charlotte Perkins-Gilman's "The Yellow Wall-Paper." We continue to practice our feminist interpretation through application to visual media, such as Barbara Kruger's "We Don't Need Another Hero" (pictured below).
