Week Three
We begin The Great Gatsby in this week, with the analytical emphasis on applying the Marxist lens to the text. Following the structure outlined in the first week, we will use visual media to practice interpretation through this lens--beginning with a mural of a sugar cane farm by Diego Rivera and Room in New York by Edward Hopper (both pictured below, for a detailed reflection of these lessons, see this artifact analysis from my Master's Thesis).
